Maurice Middleton
Maurice serves as Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Compliance at Emory University, where he leads initiatives to advance equity, inclusion, and compliance for the university community. In this role, he oversees the offices that are responsible for the University’s Equal Opportunity compliance, EEO investigations, ADA compliance, and Title IX compliance and education for faculty and staff, ensuring adherence to federal statutes and regulations.
With a keen focus on equitable and fair treatment, Maurice monitors university-wide compliance and recommends corrective actions as needed. He is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures on equal opportunity, discrimination, harassment, and related civil rights matters, including the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act. He also manages complaints from faculty, staff, students, and third parties, designing strategies to address and resolve concerns.
Maurice brings a wealth of experience and expertise in Human Resources, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), ADA and Titles VI and VII compliance, and Leadership Development across higher education and healthcare.
Collaborating closely with Emory’s Office of General Counsel and university leadership, Maurice is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and integrity. He holds a B.A. in Behavioral Science from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, and earned a Juris Master from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA.
